New Year… New adventures….

It is now 2012! That’s right. I love it when a new year starts because all of those things of the past year, are put in the archives so to speak and a new year is now happening. New adventures and new perspectives.

It’s great because it allows you to move on with life. Each year just has something new in store, and my attitude is new adventures are going to happen to me. That Internship that I need will be happening, that new career, is on the horizon. Things will get better.

But I also think that the new year is a great time to generate new perspectives. I find that my viewpoints now have changed than they were before. What matters to me has changed, what I think is important also has, and also I know what I will tolerate and what I won’t.

In 2012, I have made some new important tips  Here are they:

  1. Be proud of your accomplishments
  2. A Change of plan is not failure.
  3. Some things are just not meant to be.
  4. Don’t let other people tell you can’t do it!
  5. Your attitude affects everyone and everything around you.

Anyway… Happy New Year! Stay tuned as I’m sure there will be many good news blog posts to come.

My New Year’s Resolution: Reducing my time on Facebook.

Facebook is starting to annoy me to no end. Not only are they going to change the profiles, but I’ve found that Facebook is too much of a waste of my time.

It has become too much of a distraction for me personally.  Some people do not respond to my posts and I just can’t seem to stay focused because I’m too busy looking or chatting on Facebook. The games are addicting and waste the most time, when I could be doing something more productive.

So 2012, Facebook is still going to be happening but less. Time for me to be more productive, more focused and I’ll use Facebook for church and the Learning Center Page. But the amount of time I spend on it, needs to be and must be less.

Mark Zuckerberg, you messed up!

Recently, I decided that I would change my Facebook Profile over to Timeline considering that Facebook will be changing all accounts to Timeline on January 5th apparently.

While this does not sound like a big deal, oh trust me it is. Your Wall be transformed to a timeline of everything you ever did ever since you joined Facebook. The layout is not only horrible, but I’m getting really annoyed at it.

First of all let’s start off talking about Mark Zuckerberg. In case you did not know, Mark Zuckerberg is the founder of Facebook. He comes up with hairbrained ideas for changing your Facebook profile and feels that he has the need or the right to make changes to Facebook whether you like it or not. It started with the newsfeed and now it’s the Timeline.

I hate Timeline! Why? Because some people commented to my posts and they didn’t show up. I lost at least 2 posts today that I can’t find. Some of my own updates failed to be posted. Or, I posted something, but it disappears from someone else’s post They show up in the newsfeed, but NOT on that stupid timeline. I hope Mark Zuckerberg gets an earful because this interface is the worst designed as far as accessibility. It’s confusing and I hate losing posts but also it’s just foolish.

Facebook is becoming a big cash cow and will only get bigger when it probably goes public next year. Don’t forget those ads that will be showing up in your newsfeed, as they will show up more next year so that he can afford to take his exotic vacations and pay for the scary monster we call Facebook.

That leads to my next post about my New Year’s Resolution about Facebook.

Reflection of 2011…onwards to 2012!

Another year is coming to a close, and I wanted to take some time to reflect on this past year and look forward to the new year.

2011 was a year full of many revelations for me. I went back to college in May 2011 and got right back into it after 3 years of being out. I found that my skills in IT were not really up to date and I wanted to be talented in another skill and career in IT so that I actually become employed. Bryant & Stratton has so far led me to a great path to a new career.

Starting that new experience has probably been one of the best choices I made. Sure it will cost me more money, but I really enjoy Networking and I think that I could definitely get into Networking when I graduate. Add in my other college degrees and the future looks brighter.

Probably the most interesting revelation for me is that I am never too old to learn. I have found new opportunities to help other students, use my leadership skills, and do things that I didn’t give myself credit for before.  I found that you can’t let other people discourage you or make you feel bad. If you have goals that you want to achieve, only YOU can do it.

In 2012, my philosophy is this, Don’t give up on your goals. You may need to modify your game plan a little, but still have some sort of way forward. God leads and he will show you the way, and when things fall into place, that means it is meant to happen.

I wish everyone the best in 2012! Here is to a safe, healthy, and happy New Year!

It’s Christmas, another look

This time of year, we will be celebrating Christmas. That’s right Christ’s birth. I found out some information recently that was another interpretation.  Christ was indeed born on Christmas, but some of the details are not as we have been taught or what have seen over the years.

In an article that I read it said that when we think of a manger, we usually think that he was born in a stable. The words are used interchangeably, however that is NOT true.  In Bethlehem, mangers were kept in the bottom level of homes and people would bring in their animals to the first floor of their homes at night. In reality, Mary and Joseph stayed in the bottom level of someone’s home because there was no room in the inn, but a manger was actually made out of stone and it was the actual item that Christ was laying in.

Then another interesting fact was the idea that the wise men actually didn’t see Christ until a year later at Mary & Joseph’s home. Apparently the story has been interpreted and modified over the years.

When I see the Christmas the story, I think that I will definitely think differently about it.  It certainly gives us some food for thought and something to think about this holiday season! Have a Merry Christmas!
